Awesomesauce

I am so having one of those days. There are so many aspects in my life right now where i feel like i'm banging my head against a wall.

Do you ever feel like you've said something a million times,  and your just not getting through?

I always say, you only have one life, make it a good one. Why i don't take my own advice is beyond me...

Thank god for this little poo face today. He's the only thing in the world thats always awesome.

Diy: Headboard

Mr. H made me a headboard this weekend. I LOVE it. It's actually made our of an old door, and super easy to do.
I didn't take any pictures of the project to show you, but it's simple. He just cut a 2x4 on a 45 degree angle, he attached one piece of the 2x4 to the wall, and one to the door. It works like a hook, so he just rested the door on the 2x4 attached to the wall (it's very secure) The best part about this project, it was free! We already had the door, stored at his parents house, and we had the 2x4 and screws here.

Diy: Urn Insert

Being the frugal shmugal lady that i am, i'm SO not about to pay $30+ for a pre-made urn insert. They're super easy to make. Most of the ones sold in stores are cedar, but i preferred the evergreen. (also, cedars in the forest, only have branches about 30+ feet up in the air, so unless you buy time, they are hard to procure) You can purchase the greenery, if you don't have a forrest. After i obtained my pine branches, i headed over to the dollar store, to get some colorfull accents. I chose red and gold. Obvi. Then, all i dod was stick a bunch of trimmed pine branches in my urn (which is full of dirt), then i added my decorative sticks. I think i'm going to get some tall, plain branches, and spray them white, to add some height to my urn. This project cost $4.00. I heart saving moolah!

(i do need to repaint my urn, after only 1 winter the paint started to flake. it is too cold here now to spray paint though)

...His food, with the cat.
I take it this is the point at which babies lose interest in food? I knew one day he would now longer eat like it was going out of style, but i don't make oatmeal pancakes and baked apples for the cat.
(BTW, Zipper [cat] eats twice as much as he should already)

Pantry Envy

Is it wrong to covet someones pantry? Because if it is, i don't wanna be right.

Check out this AMAZING example of organization and style, at House of Smith's.
(The rest of their house is pretty darn cute too!)

I am so ashamed of my "organized" pantry. Pfffft! I know what i'll be doing asap. I like order in places like cupboards (even though no one can see the mess). When everything is neat and orderly, not only can i find what i'm looking for more quickly, but i don't keep a bunch of junk i'm not using anyway.
Clutter free house, clutter free mind.

Have a fab weekend & take some pictures : )

I heart trees. I also heart this poem by Mary Oliver.
Now i'm going to the kitchen. Because i'd heart some wine.

I Didn't Win...

So i decided to make my own mod art.
I'm still playing around with it, but when i get some that i'm really happy with, i plan to print them off and adhere them to canvas. I think the Modern Bird ones are fab, but i can't afford several custom painted art pieces, so i'm making my own diy version. Not hand painted, but you work with what you've got.

Jackson looks handsome in green and orange!

Vintage Crate Love

Ya know what i'm hunting for this weekend? Crates.

This first pic is my fave.

I Heart & Secret Momma Tip

My "new" (read thrifted) tablecloth. I recently picked up an also thrifted table (the one we had took up too much space in our small eat in kitchen) and it desperately need a tablecloth (veneer top). For some reason i think table cloths look nicer on round tables. I think I'm just weird though. Now that i have the perfect place to display loverly vintage tablecloths, I'm on the hunt! Etsy, Value Village and Talize, look out!

I think it compliments our bright yellow kitchen nicely. And having a color palate to work with, give me ideas for accessories. I think i'm going to recover the chair seats in a sage-y green.

My fave part is the crocheted trim.
Scratch that, my favorite part is that it was $2.99!

Secret momma tip: I used fold back clamps (the kind you clip a bunch of paper together with) to clip the tablecloth TO the table on the side against the wall. That way it won't come off if Jackson pulls on it (which could be really bad if there was anything on the table)

What a super cute scarf. I think i just might have to treat myself. It is almost winter!

Lovebirds on a Branch Pendant

Dainty Little Tree Branch Necklace
Also from LuxeAdornments

I am semi-obsessed with necklaces that have anything to do with birds or trees.

Custom Alphabet Train
By Etsy Shop:Vibrant Trains

Little boys love trains, and this shop will make you one inspired by your favorite team.

One of the things i think is really cool about handmade items, you can often have them made to suit your taste/style etc. It might cost a little more, but it will last forever, and i'm sure be passed down through your family.

Our Weekend

A fall walk. Followed by delish coffee at Bohemian Friday. Not only is the coffee SO much better than tim's, the atmosphere is perfect for bringing the J man with us. There are couches, big comfy chairs, and nice people. It's not overcrowded like the big chains. AND they sell only fair trade coffee. It's nice to sit and relax and enjoy your coffee, instead of rushing around with it in a paper cup.

(Disclaimer: Marcus' crazy moustache is for Movember, he doesn't usually sport a handlebar)

Pictures of the beautifully blue sky, and amazing clouds. A perfect day for some picture taking. It is getting cold out there though! It's hard to believe it's almost winter, and Christmas is around the corner!

A baby that REALLY likes pasta with meat sauce!
(His high chair tray, and the tub were stained after the pasta incident!)
I really like the "mean" face he's got in this picture.

Sunday J and i went to Toronto with friends. we had brunch, went shopping (i successfully carried him around the mall for 3 hours in the Moby wrap. He even had a nap in it. My back didn't hurt at all, but carrying 20+ lbs around is a bit of a work out!) and then had dinner. Jackson had calamari and potatoes. I didn't bring my camera, but it would have been too hard to carry him and a camera.

Happy Monday y'all!
