Cleaning.....oooohhh EXCITING!
Well, i know that this will sound crazy to most people, but i sometimes enjoy cleaning. Maybe not the actual process of it, but i get such a sense of pride from the results. It can be quite a chore, keeping up with the pet hair, especially when you have a husky x lab that is blowing his coat. I don't know if you've ever seen this happen, but it is a huge difference from regular "shedding". They lose giant clumps of hair, the size of your fist. So you have to vacuum and dust EVRY DAY! That is if you care about the hair everywhere, which i do. The method i've always found to be the best is vacuuming. Vacuum the carpet, tiles, hardwood, and vacuum the furniture. If you sweep it will just fly all over the place. And for surfaces like a t.v. console, bookshelves, electronics (nb: do not use the vacuum wand on electronics, it creates static which can wreck them) use one of the disposable dusters. I buy mine at the dollar store, the name brand are way too expensive, and you can use them 2 or three times if you shake the dust off into the garbage can in between uses.
I have recently started folowing somewhat of a cleaning schedule, an idea i got from The Hyper Homemaker blog, which sadly has recently been taken down : (
The idea isn't actually a new one, just make a list of all the chores you do each week, and assign a day to each one. (Ie: Monday-Vacuum Tuesday-Clean Bathroom etc...)
I don't know why i hadn't thought of this before!?!?! That way you only have one chore each day, which makes it seem like a much simpler task. I used to scramble every Friday/Saturday, trying to get the house cleaned and all the laundry done. Some days, like the weekend, i would assign a few tasks. My "Schedule" is:
Monday: Vacuum Downstairs, dust downstairs.
Tuesday: Vacuum upstairs,clean litter.
Wednesday:Clean bathroom.
Thursday:Change bedding, clean litter.
Friday:Vacuum both floors,mop.
Saturday: Dust both floors, clean litter, do laundry, some yard work....
Sunday: Anything that needs to be done...
Random tasks i do whenver i have extra time: Cleaning windows, cleaning out the fridge, cleaning the stove top, dusting blinds....
I also do the dishes on the weekends (Mr. H does them during the week) I am constantly trying to streamline things, so that my weekly chores are easier, and less time consuming.

Happy Easter!
Do you ever wonder where the time goes. I guess everyone does. Thursday night it seemed i had and endless long weekend ahead of me. Somehow i spent my entire weekend working my butt off around the house, and not finding enough time to relax. Something to work on i guess, trying to find the balance between relaxation, and wanting a spotless house. I always say to myself, "As soon as i finish this, I'll relax for a while" But then i find something else that needs to be cleaned, painted, sewn or fed. Argh! That's partially the price you pay to have a dog, and two cats, they make the house a mess. I supposed when i have kids I'll have to relax a bit, or I'll go crazy.
Enough ranting for one day...
Happy Easter (btw, I've managed to not eat any chocolate this Easter, yay for me!)

ANTS!!!!
I love spring, don't get me wrong, but i hate...ANTS! EEEK! They gross me out. I don't know why...maybe because i opened my cupboard a couple of days ago, to find them making my honey jar their home. Of course i made a loud squealing sound, and immediately called for Mr.H to come and destroy them. Ok, spiders i can handle, but ants! They're so tiny and evil. I really just wanted them all squished and gone. I also thought it would be a good idea to get rid of the honey, right? No, according to Mr.H we had to feed them poison, so they would take it back to their home, and thus kill the queen. So we did, and the second day they came back for more (the poison is a sweet substance that they mistake for food), okay they'll be dead tomorrow right? No. They came back for more. Apparently it takes a few days. I was ready to move. I know it sounds extreme, but i feel like they're crawling all over me! But alas! Smarty pants was right, after 5 days they never came back. I'm glad their queen is dead. Evil bastards.
Tip: The best remedy we've found is the liquid by "Raid". Its a honey consisteny, and they love it. Most importantly, it works. If they don't come dack, you know they're dead.

(I'm usually not so mean and spiteful, i swear! They just really repulse me!)
