Product Review: My Favourite Beauty Products

I've used the same things for years. I wouldn't say there's anything i couldn't live without, because, seriously no beauty products is that important. A few years ago i began having skin sensitivity. I hadn't changed anything i was using, but my doctor said you can become allergic at anytime. So i had to stop using everything on my skin, and start re-introducing one (hypoallergenic) product at a time.

My face lotion; Cetaphil.
It is made for sensitive skin, and doctor recommended. It works great, and the giant container lasts forever. At $10-$12 it's a steal! I usually have to get rid of it before it's even gone. (You should throw out lotions 12 months after opening) They also make a product with UV protection. I don't use that one. Because my makeup has UV protection.

My concealer/foundation; Bare Minerals.

I had the biggest problem finding a foundation that didn't irritate my skin. It had to be a powder, even the liquid's/cremes made for sensitive skin irritated it.This product has a natural SPF 15, as it is made from minerals. It is great for sensitive skin. I love love love it. It's about $35.00CAN a container, but that will last 6-8 months, depending on how much/how often you use it. You can purchase it at Sephora, and they will test it on you to help you choose the right shade. I also highly recommend the make-up brushes made by Bare Minerals.

My Blush; Bare Minerals

I change the blush i use often, I've never had a problem with blush irritating my skin. However my favorite is still Bare Minerals.

My Mascara; Maybeline Great Lash

I tried many different kinds. I found out that the only thing that irritated the area around my eyes, in terms of mascara, was the waterproof products. I use this now because it's cheap, and works great. I always use it in "Blackest Black" I have naturally long lashes, but  i still love to curl them and make them really pop.

Lip Stuff; Carmex Cherry

I never wear lipstick, i generally don't wear coloured gloss.  I have a baby, no time for fanciness. I used to love glossy lips all the time, but when you're kissing a baby 2,000 times a day, it's just silly.

It has become part of his bedtime routine;

Moby Wrap

I finally received my Moby Wrap in the mail. (It only took Canada post 23 days, and according to their wonderful tracking system it is still in Mississauga?!?! We'll save my gripes about their terrible customer service for another post.)

After one day of use, i LOVE it. When i first opened it up i thought it was a bit confusing to use...alas that is what instruction manuals are for (who knew?) It is 6 meters of fabric, yep 6. It sounds crazy, but once you have it on you'll see why. It has to be adjustable for several different carries, as well as different sizes of children and the people carrying them. On my first day of use i carried my son in it for a total of 3 hours. I carried him around Costco for an hour, Winers for a half hour, and at home for an hour and a half. He Watched the world go by in it, he ate in it (amazing!) and he slept in it. I can't give enough praise to this wrap. It is far more comfortable than the Snugli. The baby's weight is more evenly distributed, and you don't have buckles and such digging into you! Being able to feed a baby when they are hungry,  and not having to find somewhere to sit is the best. Now, my son is 10 weeks old and 12 lbs, so he's not that heavy to carry, but i briefly tried it with a 7 month old, 20lb baby and it was still comfy. Another great thing about this wrap is that the baby can be directly against your chest, which can be incredibly soothing for a fussy baby. He can sleep while mommy can get things done around the house.

Here's Jackson in the traditional "hug" hold.

Me using the computer while he snoozes away.

Slings, Wraps and Baby Carriers Oh My!

I don't know about everyone else, but my slings, baby carriers and wraps have been a lifesaver for me. I know every mom has something different that she couldn't live without, for me these are it.

I received my Pipallily sling as a baby shower gift, and have used it almost every day since Jackson was born.If he is tired and having a hard time going to sleep, the motion of me walking lulls him, if he is just fussy it calms him, and if he just wants to hang with mama and be able to see everything i can face him out so he can enjoy the view. With the sling you can have the baby in a cradle carry, or a hip carry only, and it does start to make my shoulder ache after a while because the weight is all on one side.

If i want to go on a long walk, i can pop him in the Snugli, and we can stroll forever. Now that we are finally getting some nice weather the Snugli will surely see a lot of walks. The downside of the Snugli is that he can  be in an upright carry facing in or out only. However it is more comfortable because of the weight distribution.

I am currently awaiting the arrival of my Moby wrap in the mail, and i can't wait, with the Moby wrap he can be in any position he darn well likes. I can even discreetly feed him in it! Oh i can't wait! Why does canada post have to take so long!!!! I'll take pics and review the Moby wrap when i get it. I hope it's tomorrow!
